In poker, a royal flush is usually a winning hand. In
spades, whoever has the highest or most spades in their hand will usually get
the most books, thereby winning, regardless of what their partner may have. In
speed, the object of the game is to stack all of your cards, even the deck
cards, in ascending order, and whoever is the first to do that, that fastest,
wins. No matter what game you prefer, most almost always remove the jokers,
right? Right. Playing with jokers, is the most sought after method for those
that want to find an easier way to win. It’s leverage. Generally, people feel
that it may be cheating and just suggest that you play with the cards given, as
is. When it comes to certain situations, life is like that too. In
circumstances of inequality, racism, prejudice, or just unjust treatment, the
infamous “race card” comes in to play. And just like playing a card game, it’s
only desired at times of desperation and convenience. It’s a sad and vicious
cycle white people use to accuse African Americans of using for sympathy or the
reason for the behavior or given incident. It’s sad because I don’t believe
that enough of us, African Americans, realize that this is even happening. What
ends up happening is that we begin to accuse one another of using it. If you
truly think about any argument you’ve had with someone, (who most likely was prejudice/racist)
and the subject matter may have be
targeted at a race inflicted incident, how many times did you actually even
mention race? I’m willing to bet a dollar to a dime the answer is zero. They
“jump the gun” and cry racism before we ever get a chance to. They constantly
end up putting their own foot in their mouths. There are many things that
project just as many ignorant values
and false stereotypes in a given
situation other than race, such as
capitalism, fascism, sexism, or even just an all around disagreement in religion,
class, or otherwise. Unless it is inherent racism, like the Charleston church
shooting, (among others), will we ever throw our race as a defense.
Furthermore, out of guilt, quite naturally they assume that our initial reaction/motive
is to use our race against them and believe me, that’s rarely ever the case.
Through centuries of slavery, Jim Crow, segregation era, we were never to be
proud or even address our race with consideration. Now today, if we dare
address the blatant and despicable racism we’re constantly experiencing in this
country, we’re automatically using our “race card.” Utter bullshit. If anything
we have every RIGHT to claim racism! It’s a sad and ass backwards world we live
in when people are still never willing to admit their wrongs and have the
audacity to try and flip the script at any given moment based on the guilt they
feel from stemming from their ancestors. The “race card” does not exist. It
never has and it never will. It’s fake. A façade. Smoke and mirrors. It’s a false defense mechanism for whites to;
once again, accuse and oppress us so they won’t have to feel bad when a white
man shoots a black man. If there’s an issue going on in America, half the time
it’s not even about race, but about humanity, or the lack thereof. Hell, this
“country” was founded on the principles of hate, torture, and genocide long
before “race” had even come along. If anything it’s a “truth card” not a “race
card” if you open your ears and eyes and read a book, I’m sure you’ll learn the
difference. And my people, stop falling for the okie-doke.
Power.
